How can one compete?

Hello everyone!

Lately, I have been thinking about all of the different places where an artist can sell their work, work ranging from paintings, jewelry making, graphic design, etc... One place in particular, Etsy, is a great and wonderful place to sell and buy handmade items. While shopping at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, I started to really notice all of the mass produced products. When I say this, I am referring to the dozens of "paintings" for sale or all of the vintage, distressed furniture that is offered. This brings me to my question, How can one compete? Their are individuals who spend hours and valuable time making handmade items with the hopes of selling their creation for a few bucks and for others to enjoy these creations. We always talk about the need to buy local, to support one's own community, but do we support the local artist? I am very guilty when it comes to this issue. It is very easy to drive to the big box store and grab that home decor piece or last minute birthday present without much thought into who made it or where it was made. Don't get me wrong, I love Hobby Lobby and Michaels, I shop their at least once a week. I just think we should take advantage of the great artists that are out among us; we should support the arts. By buying from these individuals, we are telling them that their art is loved and that your time is important and valuable. Anywho, that is my rant for the night.

My New Adventure I call Fiverr

Hey guys!

I have been a little lazy, sorry for not writing recently. I went on an adventure today and I set up an account on fiverr. I offer $5 flyers with a three day turn around time. For $5 more, you can have the flyer in one day. We will have to see how it goes. I noticed that their was a lot of competition, great artists. I encourage everyone to check it out, they have some really cool stuff and for the price, you can not beat it. Tell me what you guys think about this flyer. This is one of my example pieces.
Have a great night!
